Toyota has just announced a new line of electric cars, and the first is called the bZ4x. We're excited about this new vehicle because it's electric, which makes it very eco-friendly. It will also be available in two versions: one with three wheels and another with four wheels. Here are some highlights from our research on this exciting new crossover model from Toyota!

Powerful Electric Powertrain
bZ4X's electric powertrain delivers almost instantaneous torque to the wheels, providing a natural driving experience. It produces 201 hp with 196 lb.-ft. of max torque in FWD models, or 214 hp with 248 lb.-ft. of max torque in AWD models.
Battery
With a driving range of up to 252 miles for front-wheel drive models and up to 228 miles for all-wheel drive models, You can go on long drives with front-wheel drive and even longer ones with all-wheel drive, knowing that you’re driving in a Toyota.
Braking
bZ4X’s unique driving experience comes from its ability to harness and deliver electric power. When you step on the accelerator, bZ4X can easily tap into that power. By optimizing the force used on the acceleration pedal, you can easily access that stored energy. When you’re not on the accelerator, regenerative braking will recapture lost energy while coasting and help slow you down.
e-TNGA Platform
The new e-TNGA platform is an electric-vehicle-specific version of Toyota's TNGA (Toyota New Global Architecture) structure. This design, which was engineered specifically for Toyota electric vehicles, allows for more space in the cabin and provides a solid foundation for outstanding driving performance, ride comfort, and stability.
All-Wheel Drive With X-MODE
bZ4X’s available all-wheel drive system helps make you feel like an expert driver, whether you have to deal with rain or windy roads. It maximizes bZ4X’s AWD potential with available X-MODE. This feature adjusts drive force, braking, and throttle input in order to make your ride more enjoyable on rough terrain.

12.3-In. Audio Multimedia Touchscreen Display
bZ4X has a 12.3-inch Toyota Audio Multimedia touchscreen display. The screen rises from the center console for a modern look. Here, you can control a variety of functions with an intuitive touch.
Top-Mount Multi-Information Display
bZ4X’s top-mount Multi-Information Display (MID) is right above the steering wheel, so you can see vehicle details, outside temperature, driver assists systems, and more—all while keeping your eyes on the road ahead.

Qi Wireless Charging and USB Ports
The bZ4X comes equipped with a Qi wireless charger that allows you to charge your compatible device wirelessly while on the go. The bZ4X also includes four USB-C ports and one USB-A port so you can connect to and power up a variety of devices.
Digital Key Compatibility
Remote Connect's digital key, available on bZ4X Limited, can detect your Bluetooth-connected compatible smartphone to lock/unlock and start/stop your vehicle.
Safety
Blind Spot Monitor With Rear Cross-Traffic Alert and Safe Exit Assist
Blind Spot Monitoring warns you when another vehicle enters your blind spot on either side of the vehicle. Safe Exit Assist uses Blind Spot Monitoring sensors to detect approaching vehicles from behind. If the system determines that there may be a collision with a door opening, an audible alert sounds, and a visual alert appears on the outside mirrors. When you are in reverse, Rear Cross-Traffic Alert helps detect vehicles approaching from either side, warning you with side mirror indicators and a warning tone.
Panoramic View Monitor
The bZ4X’s available Panoramic View Monitor*—four cameras, one on each side of the vehicle—helps you check your surroundings for hazards. When you’re parked and using the Moving View setting, bZ4X creates an animated virtual view from above to give you a bigger picture of what’s around.
No Cost Maintenance Plan and Extended Roadside Assistance
When you purchase a new Toyota, you get ToyotaCare—a maintenance plan that covers normal factory scheduled service for 2 years or 25,000 miles, whichever comes first, and 24-hour Roadside Assistance for 3 years, unlimited mileage.
Hands-Free Power Liftgate
You can open or close the available hands-free power rear liftgate with the push of a button. When your hands are full, you can use your Smart Key to open or close bZ4X automatically by waving your foot under the center of the rear bumper.
Front and Rear Parking Assist With Automatic Braking
Available parking assist features audible and visual warnings when it detects stationary objects or vehicles approaching from the rear. If the system determines there may be contact with a detected obstacle or vehicle, it will reduce engine power and/or apply the brakes.
CHARGING
The new Toyota bZ4x has been designed with charging in mind. When you’re first getting started with the bZ4x, you can charge it up at home using a standard 120V outlet (Level 1). The 240V plug-in charging port (Level 2) will give you a full charge in about four hours, while DC Fast Charging is available at select locations around the country and will yield an 80% charge in 30 minutes.
Charging Station
Charging at home is as easy as plugging in your vehicle. A charging station supplies electricity to your car, allowing it to recharge its battery over time. Toyota designed the bZ4x’s charging system to work with the most common home power outlets—no special equipment is required.
Public charging stations are available for you when you need them, but again there’s no need for adapters or additional hardware since the bZ4x has been designed using International Standards (IEC 62196-2).
