Celebrities On Electric Cars You Didn't Know About

Celebrities on Electric Cars | Celebrities on EVs

It's no secret that electric cars are getting more popular. In fact, according to Consumer Reports, sales of fully electric vehicles increased by 43% in 2018 over the previous year. That's great news for the environment, but it also means that more people are looking at alternative ways to fuel their cars. And while celebrities haven't been very vocal about their love of electric vehicles (or EVs), some have made the switch and turned their attention to promoting this technology instead.

Jason Bateman

Jason Bateman is a well-known actor who has been in many movies, including The Change-Up, Identity Thief, and Horrible Bosses. He also starred in Arrested Development as Michael Bluth, an accountant who must take over his father's real estate business after he is arrested for embezzlement.

Bateman has said that he bought an electric car after doing research on the subject and realizing how much money he could save by switching from gasoline to electricity. In fact, he told GQ magazine that his Tesla Model S was "the best car I've ever owned."

Steve Carell

Steve Carell is an American actor and comedian best known for his work as Michael Scott on the TV show The Office. He also played Dan in The 40-Year-Old Virgin, Evan Baxter in Evan Almighty, and Brick Tamland in Anchorman: The Legend of Ron Burgundy.

In 2013, Steve Carell bought a Tesla Model S from Elon Musk at Tesla's Fremont factory. This was just after he gave the commencement speech at Princeton University, where he went to college with Elon Musk. At first, it seemed like he didn't take the time to learn about electric cars before buying one—in an interview with Jay Leno, he said that he only drove electric because it was "the fastest way" to get around L.A., but later admitted that he did some research on them before making his purchase decision (which includes visiting one at least three times). His wife Nancy Carell also drives an electric car!

Vince Vaughn

You might not know that Vince Vaughn is a car collector. In fact, he's got quite an impressive collection. The actor and comedian have a number of cars in his garage, including:

  • An electric Tesla Model X SUV

  • An electric Tesla Roadster sports car

  • A Mercedes GLE

Jeff Bezos

The founder and CEO of Amazon, Bezos also owns The Washington Post and Blue Origin, a spaceflight company. He's been a big supporter of electric vehicles for years—he bought a Tesla Model X in 2012, and he has also purchased two Chevy Bolt EVs (a little-known fact that may be surprising to some).

Andy Ruiz Jr.

If you’ve been following the world of boxing, then you probably know Andy Ruiz Jr. as one of the best boxers on the planet. Ruiz Jr. is a three-time world champion who has fought in some of the biggest fights in history, including one against Anthony Joshua for his titles.

But did you know that Ruiz Jr. drives an electric car? In fact, he drives a Tesla Model X P100D! That’s right: this champion boxer loves his fast and powerful electric car so much that he uses it as his daily driver when he isn’t training or fighting in an event.

So why does Andy Ruiz Jr love his Tesla? It turns out that it all comes down to performance and speed—which are very important factors when it comes to boxing!

Fernando Alonso

Fernando Alonso is a Spanish Formula One driver, who has won 2 world championships. He drives for McLaren and drives the McLaren MCL34. This car is powered by a Renault engine and also has a battery.

Chris Hemsworth

Chris Hemsworth is an Australian actor best known for his roles in Thor and Avengers: Infinity War. He's also the son of actor Craig Hemsworth, who appeared alongside him in Blackhat.

Hemsworth has been seen driving a Tesla Model X SUV and posted pictures of himself with the car on Instagram. He previously drove a BMW i8 but traded up foran Tesla when he got a new job as ambassador for Mission: Impossible—Fallout, because he didn't want to be associated with a brand that wasn't environmentally friendly.

Celebrities like Amazon founder and CEO Jeff Bezos and actor Jason Bateman have given up on gasoline cars in favor of electric ones.

The list of celebrities on electric cars is a short one, but it includes some pretty big names.

Andy Ruiz Jr., a world heavyweight boxing champion, drives an all-electric Tesla Model X 90D. He's also known for his Tesla Roadster and his love of the brand in general.

Amazon founder and CEO Jeff Bezos drives a Chevy Bolt EV as his daily driver (though he recently bought himself a Model S P100D with Ludicrous Mode).

Actor Jason Bateman has been spotted driving around Los Angeles in his BMW i3 REx.

F1 driver Fernando Alonso uses an all-electric Renault ZOE to commute between races in different countries throughout Europe.

Conclusion

Celebrities are helping to drive the adoption of electric vehicles, and many of them have decided to do so by making the switch themselves. They are joining the likes of Elon Musk and Leonardo DiCaprio in championing cleaner cars that not only help fight climate change but also save money on fuel costs.

The good news is that there are now more than 400 models of electric vehicles available worldwide, which means there’s one for everyone! Whether you’re looking for something affordable or luxurious, fast or slow-moving—we have plenty of options. So get yourself into an EV today!
